Aircraft Worker, Prescott, AZ Campus
Aircraft Worker Candidate Pool
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is building a pool of qualified candidates for current and future opportunities as Aircraft Workers (AWs). This entry-level program offers aspiring aviation maintenance professionals—especially those with mechanical experience in automotive, marine, military, or industrial trades—a pathway to enter and grow within the aviation industry.
AWs are paired with certificated Aircraft & Powerplant Maintenance Technicians in a helper/assistant role, gaining skills and hands-on experience while contributing to Embry-Riddle’s aircraft maintenance operations. As AWs gain proficiency, they progress through four defined levels (A1–A4), each with increasing responsibility, while remaining under the direct supervision of both their assigned mentor A&P and the crew shift lead.
- Work performed by AWs is conducted under the oversight of a certificated A&P mentor and crew shift lead.
- Lower-level AWs focus on support tasks such as cleaning, removing, preparing, and opening panels.
- Higher-level AWs are trained for basic maintenance tasks but remain under supervision.
- Top-level AWs perform at the functional equivalent of an entry-level A&P mechanic, but do not have return-to-service or inspection release authority.
