Looking for a change of environment?

If you’re an Occupational Therapist who enjoys sharing knowledge, supporting others, and reflecting on practice this role is exactly what you’re looking for.

We’re seeking an Allied Health Clinical Lead – Occupational Therapist to join our supportive team in Central Queensland Centre for Rural and Remote Health (CQCRRH) in Emerald. This is a non-traditional education-focused role focused on student supervision, mentorship, learning, and professional development rather than clinical output.

Why this role is different

  • No billables and low KPI pressure
  • This role prioritises learning, support, and professional growth over productivity targets.
  • Supportive working conditions
  • Designed to support work–life balance and sustainability.
  • A supported transition into clinical education and supervision
  • Prior teaching or student supervision experience is not required.
  • A refreshing change of pace and purpose
  • Step away from high-demand clinical environments while still making a meaningful contribution.
  • Serving Communities. Educating Futures.

We use innovative models of service delivery to meet community needs whilst educating and supporting students on placements from all universities.

The role

Allied Health Clinical Leads at CQCRRH provide support and supervision to Allied Health students throughout innovative interdisciplinary placements. They support students to develop clinical and rural generalist skills working with communities across the lifespan. Placements are based on a service-learning model which is a contemporary approach to remote service provision and workforce development.

You will be supported to

  • Share your clinical experience to support and inspire student and early-career Occupational Therapists
  • Participate in student supervision, mentoring, and learning activities, with guidance and structured support
  • Develop creative projects for placement to meet the needs of the community
  • Contribute to workforce development in rural health settings
  • Fulfilling AHPRA requirements by participating in mentoring to meet professional standards, and safe practice expectations
  • Grow your confidence as an educator in a collaborative, encouraging environment

We will provide

In this role, you will receive:

  • Orientation and mentoring in education and student supervision
  • Access to supervision frameworks, resources, and peer support
  • Ongoing guidance from experienced educators and clinicians
  • A safe environment to learn, ask questions, and build confidence in an education-focused role

About you

  • A qualified Occupational Therapist with current AHPRA registration (with 3 years clinical experience)
  • Clinical experience across the lifespan
  • An interest in mentoring, education, or supporting the next generation of practitioners
  • Experience in Rural and Remote Health and Practice (or a willingness to learn)
  • Open to learning new skills in supervision and education
  • Values collaboration, reflection, and professional growth

Why join us?

This role offers the opportunity to try something new without being thrown in the deep end. You’ll be supported, encouraged, and valued as you develop your skills as a mentor and educator—while making a genuine difference to future occupational therapists, particularly in rural and regional contexts.

We also offer:

  • A generous superannuation scheme with up to 17% employer contributions
  • 36.25-hour full-time working week
  • 5 weeks of annual recreation leave plus leave loading
  • 15 days paid sick/carers leave per year
  • Cash out annual leave
  • Up to 12 months paid parental leave
