Estates & Facilities are the stewards of King’s extensive property portfolio that enables innovative teaching and pioneering research across five campuses in central London. Made up of over 1,000 talented staff with a wide variety of roles servicing our campuses and community; together we ensure that students and staff have the estate, space, and services that enhance their academic experience while preserving and future proofing our iconic estate as King’s approaches it’s bicentenary.
Kings Residences is responsible for the management of over 6400 bedspaces with a strategy to increase the portfolio over the next few years whilst also looking to diversify our offering. We support the colleges continuing efforts to recruit our students on different academic journeys and be able to provide models which is in alignment with their offering.
In addition, King’s Residences is instrumental in supporting the College strategic decisions to widen our offering to external institutions.
About the role:
The allocations’ assistant role is an essential part of King’s Residences. Within this role you will be a valued member of the Allocations team, working to provide a customer-focused service offering information and advice to a range of stakeholders.
You will support team members in creating a cohesive and effective service to help manage the allocations processes and meet occupancy and stakeholder expectations.
The person we are looking for should have a sincere interest and understanding of the needs of students, and be able to communicate effectively with residents, university staff and external bodies both orally and in writing.
Spoken and Written Mandarin is a requirement of this post in order to support with our international marketing activities.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About you:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Proven experience in student accommodation or hotel sector
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Mandarin
- Good time management skills and excellent and proven administration skills e.g. organised record keeping, retrieving, analysing, presenting data and producing reports
- Strong IT skills especially in the use of Microsoft Products
- Experience of engaging stakeholders via social media platforms through written and visual means
- Experience in the use of databases including student accommodation software
- Previous reservations experience in Higher Education, Hotel environment or Private Student Accommodation Provider
- Ability to deal with a wide variety of people in a professional & assured manner
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, creating and updating data dashboards and knowledge of accommodation bookings systems Mercury/StarRez
- Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders including presenting
- Knowledge of Equality Act 2010 as it pertains to student to additional needs
