  • $99,161 - $109,457 (HEW Level 6) plus 17% employer's superannuation contribution and annual leave loading
  • Full-time (35 hours per week), continuing appointment

As the Alumni Success/Relationship Officer within Philanthropy and Alumni Relations in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, you will be at the heart of alumni engagement, reaching out, listening, and creating opportunities that bring alumni closer to the University and to each other. You'll contribute to initiatives that celebrate alumni achievements, drive philanthropic giving, and ensure our alumni feel valued and connected long after graduation.

This is a dynamic, people-focused role that blends relationship management, event coordination, communications, and data-driven insights. You'll work within a supportive, collaborative team in a hybrid working environment, with the autonomy to shape engagement strategies that make a real difference.

About the Role

Reporting within Philanthropy and Alumni Relations, you will develop and deepen connections across our diverse alumni community through personalised outreach, events, digital engagement, and giving programs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with alumni through one-on-one meetings, events, and online interactions to cultivate lifelong relationships with the University
  • Proactively building alumni engagement by understanding who our alumni are, where they are, what they're doing and then executing tailored activities for different cohorts
  • Supporting faculty engagement and collaboration with the alumni community, ensuring activities align with strategic priorities and revenue generation goals
  • Supporting the execution of the annual giving program to build and deepen alumni giving across all cohorts
  • Coordinating alumni small and large-scale events domestically and providing remote support for alumni gatherings internationally
  • Supporting alumni networks, prominent alumni recognition, and reconnection initiatives (or any other alumni specific program)
  • Undertaking data analysis, validation, and improvement, as well as executing email campaigns, social media outreach, and alumni calling
  • Receiving and resolving or escalating alumni queries via email and phone

Philanthropy and Alumni Relations within the Office of the Vice-Chancellor is responsible for all philanthropic activity across the University, dedicated to serving Macquarie University’s community of alumni, donors and supporters. The team creates, develops builds and manages relationships with alumni, friends, donors, and supporters who help advance theto engage them with the University's mission. You'll be joining a team that values collaboration, creativity, and genuine connection, where your contributions directly support Macquarie's ambition to make a positive impact on the world.

About You (Selection Criteria)

You are a natural relationship builder with a genuine interest in people and their stories. You bring energy, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit to everything you do, and you're motivated by creating engagement experiences that are meaningful and inclusive.

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field and/or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience,
  • Cross-cultural awareness with strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), and a demonstrated ability to develop engaging, long-term connections with a wide range of audiences and individuals of all ages,
  • Experience in planning, coordinating, and supporting engagement initiatives and events, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines,
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders,
  • Experience contributing to improving systems, processes, and/or procedures,
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including Excel), digital communication tools, and data management, and
  • Knowledge of, or experience in, fundraising, alumni relations or engagement initiatives that contribute to participation or revenue outcomes generation (desirable).
