General Summary

Teach courses in the Anatomy and Physiology discipline and support the department in advancing the mission of Odessa College. Courses may include Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Nutrition and Diet Therapy, and Pathophysiology.

Specific Position Duties

Teach assigned courses in the curriculum with a high degree of integrity;
Teach web-based classes as requested, using a variety of instructional technologies, including Blackboard and Panopto;
Assist with recruitment, advising, and retention activities, as well as participate in various departmental and campus-wide committees;
Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field;
Utilize appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners;
Provide students with written expectations regarding syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, graded evaluations, and other course requirements;
Develop and administer tests appropriate to the course content;
Affirm the worth and dignity of all persons and their right to learn through effective instruction;
Maintain an appropriate learning and assessment environment in the web-based classroom that encourages the free exchange of ideas while promoting academic honesty and objectivity;
Prepare adequately for class and devote appropriate time to web-based instruction-related activities;
Deliver course material in a clear and understandable manner;
Address student concerns, comments, questions, and input in a timely manner, both in class and through posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate means;
Adhere to all college policies and the departments vision;
Communicate with students in a timely manner via email, phone, web-based technology, and other appropriate methods;
Submit assignment grades, exam grades, and final grades in a timely manner; and
Meet all course outcomes and requirements as outlined in the ACGM.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate or masters degree in a life science or related field, with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Human Anatomy and Physiology from an accredited institution.
Computer literacy.
Experience teaching in an online environment.
Oral and written communication skills needed to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Documented commitment to teaching excellence.
Documented experience with student success.
