Annual Adjunct, Asst Professor, Biological Sciences, College of Arts and Science
Job Overview
Annual adjunct faculty must be able to teach Anatomy & Physiology I and/or II lab sections. These courses are aimed at undergraduate students studying nursing, dental hygiene, pre-health professions, and allied health students.
Annual adjunct faculty members will be expected to (1) use our course management system (Canvas) and any textbook-specific systems, (2) attend weekly content-related meetings, (3) teach 8 lab sections per week/2 hours per section/semester, (4) and assist in lab preparation as needed. This appointment involves teaching two semesters (fall and spring) per year.
All classes may be offered day or evening. This position is not eligible for visa or green card sponsorship.
Essential Functions
- Teach assigned undergraduate coursework in Anatomy and Physiology.
- Utilize best teaching practice, and continually evaluate student coursework.
- Engage in other pedagogical and organizational activities in support of the Anatomy and Physiology program.
- Review and respond in a timely manner to all University-related and student communications.
- Additional service duties will be assigned by the program and/or department head, in accordance with departmental needs.
Required Education
Academic degree in an appropriate disciple and prior teaching experience.
Required Experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject. Must have outstanding writing skills to present research in written format. Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
Additional Qualifications Considered
At least one (1) year of teaching experience. Teaching experience, particularly in a college setting, will be considered. Minimum of a Master's degree in Biological Sciences or related field (General Biology, Physiology, Zoology) or a Master’s degree in Education with an undergraduate degree in a Biological Sciences field.
