Position Summary
The University at Buffalo, a distinguished public research
institution and the State University of NY's flagship university,
is seeking a talented and motivated
Application Development
Analyst to join
Enterprise Application Services' Student
Information Systems (SIS) team. The position serves as a key
analytical and technical contributor, bringing both systems
analysis expertise and hands-on development skill into the
University's SIS enterprise applications. The position analyzes
business and functional requirements, supports and troubleshoots
mission-critical applications, designs and develops application and
integration solutions, and collaborates with functional offices and
other UBIT units to deliver reliable, well-supported solutions.
This is a campus-based position with the possibility of hybrid
work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and analyze business and functional requirements from
SIS stakeholders; translate requirements into well-documented,
effective system solutions and configurations
Support, troubleshoot, and maintain mission-critical Student
Information System applications; evaluate and respond to customer
enhancement requests, upgrades, and reported issues
Design, develop, and integrate solutions, including REST API
integrations connecting the Student Information System with other
campus and third-party systems
Develop and execute test plans and quality assurance practices,
including unit, integration, and regression testing
Collaborate with team members, functional offices, and other
UBIT units in an Agile environment to deliver reliable,
well-supported solutions
Research and evaluate platform capabilities, integration
patterns, and industry trends; identify opportunities to improve
enterprise IT services
Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical
stakeholders throughout the analysis, development, and support
lifecycle

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience or master's degree
with 1 year of experience in computer science, information systems,
software engineering, or related field. A combination of education
and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree on a year for
year basis
- Demonstrated ability to research and work through unfamiliar
problems independently, with the initiative to identify and pursue
opportunities for improvement
- Experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business or
functional requirements and translating them into system
solutions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the
ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting production
application systems
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States by

Preferred Qualifications
- Background working in higher education or a large,
decentralized organizational environment
- Experience with or exposure to Enterprise Resource Planning
(ERP) or Student Information System (SIS) platforms such as Oracle
PeopleSoft
- A demonstrated pattern of self-directed learning and proactive
problem-solving; Proven ability to dig into unfamiliar systems,
research solutions independently, and drive improvements without
being asked
- Hands-on development skills, particularly building or
supporting REST API integrations between enterprise systems;
full-stack application development is a plus
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum methodologies and
collaborative development practices
- Skilled in software testing and quality assurance practices
(e.g., test planning, automated testing, test-driven
development)
Physical Demands
Salary Range
$75,000 - $84,000
