APRN/PA - Instr. I - General Sugery
Job Description
The Department of Surgery at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is seeking an APRN/PA to further increase our patient access and provide coordination and continuity of care for patients in the division of General/Gastrointestinal Surgery. Applicants are expected to: a) (i) have graduated from an institution approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), (ii) be currently certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), (iii) have a valid State Florida Medical License, and (iv) to have a minimum of 2 years of experience with in the care of surgical patients. OR b) (i) have graduated from an institution approved by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification ( ABSNC), (ii) have a current acute care nurse practitioners (ACNPs) in adult-gerontology (AG) patients, (iii) have valid State Florida Medical License, and (iv) to have a minimum of 2 years of experience with in the care of surgical patients.
Responsibilities
CLINICAL DUTIES: Clinical duties include direct patient care for established and acute patients, including pre-and post-op patients. Serves as an extension of our physician providers in the Gastrointestinal Surgery division.
OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties as assigned by Division Chief.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION: Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.
Qualifications
Master's or Medical degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64, or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.
Candidates must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in ARC-PA or NCSBN + ACNP-AG.
PREFERRED: Experience with General, Foregut, and/or Bariatric Surgery patients
