Course Description: Europe's role in the crises of the 20th century: democratic and totalitarian responses to the Great War (1914-1918), the Russian Revolution, the economic upheaval of the inter-war period, World War II, the division of post-war Europe, decolonization and the end of the European world hegemony, the European Community, and the collapse of the communist block since 1989.
