Aquatics & Risk Management Coordinator
Job Description Summary
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Recreation and Wellness, the Aquatics & Risk Management Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Aquatics department programming and maintaining the department’s risk management policies and procedures.
Essential Duties
Aquatics
- Responsible for the recruitment, training, and supervising of department lifeguards, certified swim instructors, and aquatic special program instructors.
- Develop and conduct monthly staff trainings for the Aquatics department.
- Manage the mechanical and chemical pool operations for the facility natatorium.
- Design and implement preventative maintenance and cleaning schedules for the Aquatics natatorium.
- Design, plan, and implement a year-round adult and child Learn-to-Swim program for the campus and surrounding community.
- Design, plan, implement, and host year-round water safety instructor (WSI) and lifeguard instructor (LGI) training courses.
Risk Management
- Assist the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations with the scheduling, delivery, and assessment of all American Red Cross safety certification classes.
- Assist with the oversight of Campus REC facility student managers and facility operation team members.
- Serve as co-chair of the department’s internal risk management committee.
- Perform other Risk Management responsibilities as required.
Education
Bachelor’s degree.
Required Licensing/Certification
- Licensed Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
- American Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI)
- Valid Texas Driver’s License preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of: Policies, aquatic regulations, procedures, and practices; safety guidelines.
Skill in: Problem-solving and decision-making; multitasking and time management; strong management; coordinating work of others; planning activities; leading projects; both verbal and written communication.
Ability to: Prepare detailed reports; work independently; communicate effectively.
Work Experience
Two (2) years of directly related job experience.
Working/Environmental Conditions
Prolonged standing and/or walking; handling moderate weight objects; using or carrying equipment; stoop, bend or lift; moderate risk of accident; may require routine travel.
