Job Description
- Provides skilled architectural design services to meet client requests/needs.
- Possesses both a broad and deep understanding of the job.
- Understands how own and related teams coordinate their efforts and resources to achieve objectives and goals.
- Provides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or occur infrequently.
- Uses discretion to modify work practices and processes to achieve results or improve efficiency.
- Confers with department representatives to determine and coordinate design criteria for completion of design drawings.
- Impacts the team’s results through the quality and effectiveness of own work.
- Explains detailed and/or complicated technical information to and within the team and/or other necessary parties.
- Provides preliminary cost estimates of projects.
Essential Functions
- Exhibit proficiency with Auto Desk AutoCAD software.
- Confer with department representatives to determine and coordinate design criteria for completion of design drawings; advise concerning practical design and feasibility.
- Prepare design drawings required for building construction.
- Advise clients on the project scope, schedule, and budgetary constraints; understand interrelationship between these project components and how they affect project viability.
- Understand project scope, budgets, and schedules; coordinate design team; manage student interns.
- Exhibit understanding and ability to recommend construction/project costs and durations.
- Assist in bid process.
- Approve shop drawings submitted by contractors.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Assist in performing contract administration tasks [such as field observations, submittal review, prepare responses to questions, supplemental instruction, etc.]
- Collaborate with other Campus Facility and University stakeholders; understand and apply campus standards for building systems and components.
- Meet with manufacturer's representatives; organize catalogs and project work; attend department supported continuing education classes, seminars, and events.
Shift
7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in area of specialty or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Licensure or eligibility for licensure may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
Must possess a valid driver’s license, which will allow legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri.
