Architectural Engineering Instructor (Part-Time)

Job Summary

The Art & Design Department at Arapahoe Community College is accepting applications for part-time Instructors to teach in the Architectural Studies Program during the upcoming Spring semester. Candidates must be able to teach at the Littleton Campus. This posting will be used to fill multiple part-time Instructor vacancies. Finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including for online courses.

Part-time Instructors provide instructional duties for the College in their respective areas of expertise. They report to the department chair within the discipline and do not have any supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include instruction, student assessment, and other related instructional duties. Instructional delivery may include face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Classes may be held days, evenings, and weekends.

The instructor must be patient, and respectful, while also providing their expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display dedication to the class as well as the goals of the program.

Available Courses for Spring 2026 Semester

  • AEC 1200 - Print Reading for Residential & Commercial: Face-to-face instruction at Littleton Campus, Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 pm - 8:15 pm. This course runs from January 20, 2026 - May 12, 2026. It teaches students to interpret construction documents, covering scale, construction math, line types, symbols, freehand technical sketching, orthographic projection, dimensioning, and construction material identification.
  • AEC 1510 - Building Materials: Online instruction (asynchronous). This course runs from January 20, 2026 - May 12, 2026. It covers evaluation, testing, referencing, codes, and zoning ordinances for construction materials including concrete, masonry, stone, ceramics, metals, wood, plastics, thermal and moisture protection, roofing, drainage, doors, windows, builder's hardware, and various finishes.

Responsibilities

  • Classroom Instruction: Meet all class periods promptly, teach assigned curriculum, use required texts and materials, provide a complete syllabus, maintain attendance records, and use technology like the College's learning management system.
  • Student Assessment: Maintain accurate grading records and provide timely feedback.
  • Planning: Prepare for classes with strategies for diverse learning styles.
  • Communication: Use ACC email for timely feedback and check emails regularly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture or related field, or current professional license in Architecture.
  • Qualify for a postsecondary CTE credential with 4,000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last 7 years.
  • Preferred: Previous teaching experience.

Additional Information
