Job Description

POSITION: Archives Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Library

REPORTS TO: Archivist and Special Collections Librarian

HOURS NEEDED PER WEEK: 10 - 20

HOURLY RATE: $15.25

DATES OF EMPLOYMENT (APPROXIMATE): January - August

JOB COMPONENTS / PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist with day-to-day Archives-related duties as needed
2. Assist with digital image gallery
3. Assist with reference requests
4. Assist with receipt of collections
5. Perform minimal processing duties
6. Must abide by Archives' rules regarding treatment of fragile materials
7. Must maintain data confidentiality as per FERPA regulation and general Archival standards

BASIC COMPETENCIES: (Required knowledge, skills, abilities)

1. Required: Computer literate (PC & MAC)
2. Preferred: Completed GSLIS 701, 703 and 704
3. Preferred: Familiar with HTML / CSS / XML
4. Preferred: Familiar with / interested in basic Archival practices
5. Ideal: Awareness of EAD / DACS / MARC / DC
