Area Coordinator
Randolph-Macon College invites applications for the Area Coordinator of Residence Life & Housing in the Student Engagement Center. Reporting to Director of Residence Life & Housing, the qualified candidate for this full-time position will be responsible for implementing the vision and goals of the Student Engagement Center. Area Coordinators will collaborate with other SEC staff members and are responsible for the oversight of a residential community and serve as the main point of contact for residential students. They are also expected to provide high level customer service and direct supervision of different types of student staff to facilitate the development of communities, foster a sense of belonging, promote health and wellbeing, and support the residents’ learning.
Responsibilities
The Area Coordinator is expected to spend much of their work time within the residence halls, during the afternoon and evening, connecting with students in specific areas of campus. This role also includes responsibility for a variety of administrative and operational tasks associated with the management of special interest housing. Area Coordinators will assist with evening and weekend programming efforts hosted by Student Life and help advise the Commons Activities Board. During the summer, Area Coordinators oversee the management of summer residential students.
This position is a 12-month appointment with live-in responsibilities as well as evening and weekend hours. Area Coordinators will work late mornings into evenings, not typical 9 am – 5 pm hours.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Experience in Residence Life and Housing required.
- Master’s Degree in Student Personnel or related field preferred.
- Prior student supervisory experience in student affairs preferred.
- Experience working with a student activities board preferred.
