Position Purpose
To manage, oversee and coordinate all administrative functions of the departments of Classical Studies and East European, Eurasian, and Russian Studies, including prioritization of multiple activities. To advise and support the Chair and faculty on programmatic and administrative matters, ensuring efficient, accurate and timely operations and sound fiscal management.
Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp
Bachelors plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Key Accountabilities
Administration: Independently manages, oversees, and coordinates all administrative functions and activities of the department/program. (15%)
Budget: Develops, manages, and reports on the department budget within parameters set by the DOF Fiscal Office including operating accounts, gifts, and endowments. (5%)
Financial Management: Oversees, reconciles, and reports on all financial matters for the department. (15%)
Faculty Support: Coordinates and organizes faculty searches, visiting and research faculty appointments, tenure cases, annual reports and other internal department/program support. (10%)
Curriculum Support: Assists chair with teaching course schedule, coordinates cross-listing of courses, communicates requirements to students, tracks majors and minors, acts as liaison for departments with Registrar’s Office. (10%)
Communication: Serves as the primary point of contact representing the department to the institution and external constituencies, including maintaining the website, social media, and newsletters as well as coordinating stewardship efforts. (10%)
Event Coordination: Responsible for the management, coordination and implementation of all department events including department meetings, lectures, workshops, conferences, faculty, guest speakers, student presentations, open houses, social gatherings, alumni events, and seminars. (15%)
Information Management: Adhering to institutional policies and procedures, maintains a comprehensive array of manual and electronic records such as inventories, budgets, majors/minors records, student information and personnel files. (10%)
Facilities: Facilitates facilities matters such as lab renovations and building improvements as well as general maintenance issues and upkeep, office space assignments and access issues. (5%)
Human Resources: Hires, trains and supervises and evaluates administrative assistant and student employees according to department/program administrative structure. (5%)
