Position Purpose: To manage, oversee and coordinate all administrative functions of the department, including prioritization of multiple activities. To support the Chair and department faculty, ensuring efficient, accurate and timely operations and sound fiscal management.
Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp
Bachelors plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Knowledge of financial and budget principles and procedures.

- 2+ years of administrative, financial or academic experience in a highly autonomous setting.

Key Accountabilities
- Administration: Manages the day-to-day administrative functions and activities of the department including establishing internal deadlines and priorities. Interprets and applies college-wide policies. Serves as liaison between the chairs and department faculty, college administrative offices, and others. Manages departmental databases, compiles and analyzes statistical data, authorizes purchases, and coordinates room scheduling.
- Financial/Budget Management: Develops the department budget, prepares budget reports, monitors and reconciles accounts, oversees purchase orders, and ensures adherence to college policy.
- Faculty Support: Coordinates faculty searches, arranges candidate visits, assists in faculty appointment processes, processes confidential information, and supports faculty on budget accounts.
- Communication: Responds to inquiries, monitors academic progress of majors and minors, supervises preparation of materials for publications, and maintains the department web page.
- Event Coordination: Coordinates department meetings, lectures, workshops, conferences, and other events, including advertising, invitations, and expense management.
- Information Management: Maintains records such as inventories, budgets, and student information.
- Staff Development: Hires, trains, and supervises student employees.
