Job Summary

The Department of Computer Science and Mathematics in the School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in data science. The department is seeking highly qualified and motivated faculty members who are committed to research, innovative teaching, program development and academic advising.

Department Profile

The Computer Science and Mathematics is one of the 9 departments of the School of Arts and Sciences at LAU. It offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science, a B.S. in Bioinformatics, a B.S. in Mathematics, a Master of Science (M.S.) in Data Science and an M.S. in Computer Science. The undergraduate program in Computer Science is ABET-accredited.

Job Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Data Science or a closely related field such as Computer Science or Operations Research. Candidates should demonstrate documented excellence in research and teaching, along with strong potential to establish and sustain an independent research program. Experience in grant writing and/or industrial collaboration is highly desirable.

While applications from all qualified candidates will be considered, the department is particularly interested in candidates with research specialization in data-centric mathematical sciences, including (but not limited to):

• Statistical learning and modern inference
• Optimization for machine learning
• Computational statistics
• Large-scale, trustworthy, and causal machine learning
• Data-driven modeling and scientific machine learning
