Position Summary

The Department of English and Creative Arts at the Lebanese American University invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice rank in Television and Film, with a specialization in Visual Effects and New Media. We are seeking a qualified and motivated educator-practitioner who can bridge critical theory, creative practice, and emerging technologies.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD or a terminal degree in Film Production, Digital Media, Visual Effects, or a closely related field. We seek a key contributor to our forward-looking BA program, capable of teaching core production courses while providing expert instruction in New Media, including but not limited to Visual Effects and Animation and Artificial Intelligence. We are particularly interested in candidates who can prepare students for the evolving demands of the global media industry.

Responsibilities

• Teach a range of undergraduate courses from foundational to advanced levels, including core courses in film production and specialized courses in Visual Effects & Animation, A.V. Artificial Intelligence, Streaming & Digital Broadcasting, and other New Media topics.
• Advise and mentor students within the Television and Film BA program, including guiding capstone projects.
• Maintain an active scholarly and/or creative research agenda focused on international film and media, with an emphasis on digital methodologies and new media practices.
• Contribute to service for the department, school, and university, supporting the continued development and growth of the Television and Film program.
• Additional duties may be set by the department in light of departmental needs and priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D., MFA, or other terminal degree in Film Production, Digital Media, Visual Effects, or a closely related field.
• Evidence of a research agenda and published output in international refereed journals or other recognized creative outlets.
• Demonstrated professional creative experience in filmmaking, supported by a portfolio in visual effects, animation, or new media.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Evidence of successful university-level teaching.
• High proficiency in industry-standard software and pipelines for visual effects, animation, and AI-driven media production.
• Evidence of fundraising abilities and experience in developing and leading major projects and international programs, such as film festivals, study abroad, and exchange programs.
• A proven understanding of new digital methodologies and their application in both research and creative film production.
