Position Summary

The Department of Nutrition and Food Science at the Lebanese American University invites applicants for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice in Nutrition/Food Science. The department is seeking a highly qualified and motivated full-time faculty member who is committed to innovative teaching, research, academic advising and institutional and community service. The Department offers a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics, a Combined Program in Nutrition and Dietetics, a Dietetic Internship program, and a Minor in Nutrition, a Minor in Food Innovation and Management, and an MS in Nutrition.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition, dietetics, and food science.
• Supervise theses and capstone projects.
• Advise and mentor students.
• Service and support the Dietetic Internship Program.
• Integrate artificial intelligence, experiential learning, case studies, and practical applications into teaching.
• Collaborate with hospitals, clinics, food industries, and NGOs to enhance student learning and training opportunities.
• Contribute to the strategic plan of the Department.
• Engage in applied research and/or practice-based scholarship in nutrition and food science.
• Engage in service to the Department, the School, the University, and the Profession.
• Additional duties may be set by the Department in light of Departmental needs and priorities.

Qualifications

• A PhD in Nutrition, Food Science or a closely related field from a well-recognized University.
• Experience in successful teaching Nutrition and/or Food Science courses for at least two years.
• Non-academic professional experience in the field of nutrition or food science for at least two years.
• Evidence of an established research agenda is a plus.
• Evidence of mentoring students’ internships is a plus.
• Licensed Dietitian (LD) or Registered Dietitian (RD) credential is a plus.
