Position Summary

The Department of Political Science and International Studies (POLIS) at the School of Arts and Sciences, Lebanese American University, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate in Political Science/International Relations.

The department seeks a highly qualified and motivated candidate who is committed to excellence in innovative teaching, impactful research, and dedicated academic advising. The ideal candidate will also actively contribute to institutional development and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in International Affairs and related areas on the Beirut and Byblos campuses.
• Develop and deliver courses using innovative, evidence-based, and experiential approaches to teaching and learning.
• Supervise senior study projects, MA theses, and other student research in international affairs and related fields.
• Advise, mentor, and support undergraduate and graduate students in their academic and professional development.
• Establish and maintain an active program of research and scholarly publication in international affairs and related areas.
• Seek external research funding and develop collaborative research projects with colleagues within and beyond the University.
• Contribute to curriculum development, program enhancement, assessment, and accreditation-related activities.
• Contribute to the development of academic and professional partnerships with relevant local, regional, and international organizations.
• Engage in service to the department, School, University, and the academic and professional communities.
• Contribute to community engagement and initiatives related to conflict prevention, resolution, peacebuilding, diplomacy, negotiation, and mediation.
• Participate in departmental and university committees and other academic activities as appropriate.
• Perform additional academic and administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Department in response to departmental needs and priorities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• A PhD in Political Science/International Relations from a well-recognized university
• Specialization in American, African, or Asian studies or a focus on International Organizations and diplomatic affairs.
• Evidence of research and publication record
• Evidence of teaching experience in research methods courses

Preferred Qualifications

• Evidence of success in securing external funding for research
• Specialization in quantitative research methods
