Asc Dir of Philanthropy, Medicine
Job Summary
Personally identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards philanthropic gifts of $25,000 or more to Augusta University, its academic units, centers and institutes, with special emphasis on major gifts of $100,000 or more for Medicine, by strategically managing a portfolio of approximately 125 confirmed major gifts prospects.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- MAJOR GIFT MANAGEMENT: Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards philanthropic gifts of $25,000 or more to Augusta University, its academic units, centers and institutes, with special emphasis on major gifts of $100,000 or more for Augusta University, by strategically managing a portfolio of approximately 125 confirmed major gifts prospects. Special or exclusive focus of the role may be given to a particular area of the university as directed by the employee's manager. This role will also work collaboratively to support annual giving programs and grow mid-level donors in the designated units.
- Performance is evaluated annually based upon predetermined and weighted performance of the responsibilities of the employee: Scheduling of and participation in face-to-face meetings with major gift prospective donors, and/or donors; Identification and assessment of new major gift prospects; Number of major gift proposals presented; Number of major gifts solicitations closed; Total dollars raised. Specific targets for all categories are based upon the breadth and maturity of the Associate Director of Development major gifts prospect portfolio on an annual basis.
- GENERAL DUTIES: Works closely with the deans, department chairs, and faculty to develop and communicate the philanthropic cases for support for the colleges and its academic units, centers and/or institutes. Utilizes the expertise and professional relationships of the deans, department chairs and faculty to identify and cultivate major gifts prospects and craft major gift proposals to alumni, patients, friends, corporations and foundations.
- DOCUMENTATION: Appropriate and timely documentation of all donor interactions and donor relationship activities within the database of record.
- OTHER DUTIES: Works collaboratively with other Augusta University Advancement Professionals in the successful planning and execution of multiple college and university-wide alumni and donor engagement, stewardship and fundraising events. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of three years of experience/training in fundraising, sales, marketing or similar. Profession or volunteer exposure to fundraising in a not-for-profit organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university. 3+ years major gift fundraising experience in higher education or non-profit organization. Specifically, experience in personally identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding private philanthropic gifts. Demonstrative success closing multiple gifts of $10,000 or more. Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- ABILITIES: Excellent Interpersonal, organizational, verbal/written communication skills, attention to detail and analytical abilities; Ability to multi-task, think creatively and handle a heavy workload; Ability to maintain confidentiality; Able to work effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds, including healthcare professionals, community leaders, as well as patients, families, volunteers and employees; Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends and conduct multi-day business trips.
- KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of standard event management tasks and resources; Experience with databases (especially Raiser's Edge) and internet searches.
- SKILLS: Highly developed computer skills, Proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and constituent relations software; A high energy level, integrity and sincerity; Requires adaptability, good judgment and initiative.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Pay Band: B14; Salary Minimum: $75,300 - $90,000; Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position; Recruitment Period: 11/13/24 - Until Filled; Augusta University offers a variety of benefits to full-time benefits-eligible employees and some of our half-time (or more) employees. Benefits that may be elected could include health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, Teachers Retirement System (or Optional Retirement Plan), as well as earned vacation time, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. Also, our full-time employees who have been employed with us successfully for more than 6 months can be considered for the Tuition Assistance Program.
Conditions of Employment
All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University. If applicable for the specific position based on the duties: the candidate will also need to have a credit check completed for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental Purchase Card usage. Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive an Augusta University vehicle. For Faculty Hires: Final candidates will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
