Asset Control Manager

As an Asset Control Manager within the Broadcast Engineering team of the Information Services (IS) division, this role is responsible for overseeing scheduling, resource allocation, and material movement. Responsible for proper storage, testing, and planned use of assets, by collecting data on stock levels, organizing inventory, and coordinating shipments. Inform Engineering when assets are broken and inform Production as to the repair timeline. Additionally, they will train staff on proper safety procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and account for inventory usage.
  • Facilitate inter-departmental use of assets.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Offer shipping and logistics solutions and best practices to departments.
  • Complete periodic inventory of university assets.
  • Coordinate the fulfillment of orders for on-campus deliveries.
  • Ensure staff are adequately trained and follow all safety procedures to meet or exceed OSHA standards.
  • Secure equipment and regulate usage for proper upkeep and maintenance.
  • Pack gear for events.
  • Liaise between production teams.
  • Ensure assets are properly tagged and logged in requisite software.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute movement of cameras and other broadcast equipment.
  • Stay up to date on campus events.
  • Required to work flexible hours, travel as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the work of full-time and student worker warehouse personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience

  • Four-year college degree, with a concentration in communications or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive working knowledge or pre-production, production, and post-production practices.
  • Working technical knowledge of operations procedures and systems.
  • Working familiarity with both academic and professional media environments.

Tier 2

  • 3+ years’ experience as an Asset Control Manager.

Tier 3

  • 5+ years’ experience as an Asset Control Manager.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Frequently required to travel to campus locations and occasionally required to travel domestically or internationally for remote events. Will be LU approved driver and using University vehicle.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork. Required to sit for extensive time during broadcasts to serve in functions essential to the production.
  • Must possess remarkable auditory skills to accurately detect and interpret various sounds—such as pitch, tone, clarity, and spatial cues—to identify technical audio problems, maintain creative content quality, and communicate clearly with team members in fast-paced broadcast settings.
  • Must possess exceptional visual acuity, including the ability to see fine details and accurately distinguish colors, in order to identify visual defects, maintain the creative and technical quality of video content, and carry out precise tasks such as equipment installation, signal monitoring, and system calibration.
  • Standing, walking, and climbing stairs frequently required.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 75 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform office functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. The majority of tasks will be completed in venues that may be outdoor or indoor. Weather can be a factor, and staff are expected to provide clothing appropriate for each situation. Productions also involve dirt and filth accumulation, and staff should be aware of the risk of pests, insecticides, and poisonous plants. May be required to lift or transport heavy equipment in severe weather situations.

Driving Requirements

Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
