Assistant Archivist
The McClure Archives and University Museum at the University of Central Missouri seeks an Assistant Archivist to manage the McClure Archives collections. Collections are focused on the history of the university from its founding, as well as the McClure 20th Century History Collection. The McClure is a major asset to UCM, and the Assistant Archivist will be charged not only with maintaining the institution's history, but making that history available to constituent groups and to the public.
Examples of Duties
- Archival collection management, including routine care, condition and housing - 30%
- Study and consultation with constituent groups - 30%
- Preparation of reports and documents - 15%
- Travel and training to include travel to collections - 10%
- Normal day-to-day office operations, to include presentations to groups - 15%
Typical Qualifications
Education:
- Training in national standards on collections care.
- Bachelors’ degree in archival studies, library science, museum studies, related fields
- Masters’ preferred in archival studies, library science or museum studies
Experience:
- Two years experience with formal archival registration procedures and accession standards.
- Preferred:
- One year experience supervising undergraduate students.
- Three years of experience and/or training in archival management can include volunteer time.
- One year of experience in office management, university setting preferred.
