Job Summary

As a core faculty member in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, this individual will teach in the DPT curriculum and serve as Director of Drexel University Physical Therapy Services. This leadership role includes overseeing and expanding clinical practice opportunities, enhancing integrated clinical experiences for DPT students, and supporting innovative, evidence-based models of care. The position requires a dynamic clinician with interest and expertise in clinical administration, DPT and physical therapy residency education, and a progressive, results-driven approach to physical therapy practice. Responsibilities include participating in admissions interviews, advising and supporting DPT students, maintaining a scholarly agenda that meets accreditation requirements, contributing to curriculum review, and providing service to the department, college, and university. Opportunities for teaching in other college or university programs, as well as clinical practice with Drexel University Physical Therapy Services, are available. Faculty responsibilities are governed by Drexel University’s non-tenure track faculty policy and the workload policies of the College of Nursing & Health Professions. All faculty are expected to maintain active physical therapy licensure in Pennsylvania and membership in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Essential Functions

  • As a core faculty member in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, this individual will teach in the DPT curriculum and serve as Director of Drexel University Physical Therapy Services. This leadership role includes overseeing and expanding clinical practice opportunities, enhancing integrated clinical experiences for DPT students, and supporting innovative, evidence-based models of care.
  • Responsibilities include participating in admissions interviews, advising and supporting DPT students, maintaining a scholarly agenda that meets accreditation requirements, contributing to curriculum review, and providing service to the department, college, and university.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Physical Therapy, Rehab Sciences.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in physical therapy clinical practice or education.
  • Physical therapy direct access licensure in the State of Pennsylvania or eligibility
  • Commitment to excellence in physical therapy teaching and education
  • Evidence of leadership, teamwork, and innovative thinking.
  • Experience or interest in managing and growing physical therapy practice.
  • An entrepreneurial, results-driven business mindset.
  • An evidence-informed focus and growth mindset
  • Strong communication skills and evidence of productivity working with teams of people
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, values, and direction of the PTRS department, College of Nursing & Health Professions, and Drexel University
  • APTA membership or willingness to become a member of the APTA on hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience in a Doctor of Physical Therapy program
  • An understanding of insurance and credentialling procedures.
  • Expertise that complements the PTRS faculty and faculty in the CNHP/Drexel University
  • Post-professional degree or interest in obtaining one (i.e., PhD, EdD, DHSc, DSc, ScD) and/or board certification in a physical therapy specialty
  • Content expertise in orthopedics, sports medicine, anatomy, diagnostic imaging, exercise science, and population health.
  • Board certification in a physical therapy specialty
  • Engaged or interested in becoming actively engaged in the APTA and its academies

This is a Full-Time Faculty position classified as Exempt. The offered salary is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
