Description
The University of New England School of Nursing invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenured faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor. Reporting to the Director of the School of Nursing, the faculty member will engage in teaching, advising, mentoring, and service to support the school's mission and student success.

The preferred candidate will have recent college or university teaching experience and clinical expertise in Medical/Surgical nursing, spanning foundational through acute care levels. Candidates with flexibility to teach in other areas such as Adult Health (medical/surgical), Health Assessment, Pharmacology, Leadership, Transition to Practice, or Evidence-Based Practice/Research are especially encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
Faculty in this role are responsible for:

  • Teaching didactic and experiential courses, including classroom, simulation, skills labs, clinical supervision, and participation in community and university events, as assigned.
  • Advising and mentoring students individually and in groups on academic, curricular, and career matters.
  • Contributing meaningful and sustained service to the School of Nursing, with progression to service at the college and university levels.
  • Maintaining clinical and content expertise in their area of focus and engaging in professional development and scholarly activities.
  • Upholding professional and ethical principles in interactions with faculty, staff, students, administrators, and the public.

Teaching

  • Demonstrate effective teaching through student learning outcomes, peer review, best-practice pedagogy, student evaluations, and director observation.
  • Teach across a variety of settings, including classroom, simulation, skills labs, clinical practice, online courses, and directed studies.
  • Prepare and evaluate examinations and assignments; provide feedback; contribute to curriculum development and revisions.
  • Collaborate with faculty, directors, and clinical instructors to support student performance and professional growth.

Service

  • Actively participate in school, college, and university committees and activities in accordance with institutional policies and bylaws.
  • Engage in service to professional or scientific societies.
  • Provide community service or oversee experiential learning opportunities as assigned.

Scholarship

  • Engage in scholarly activity to demonstrate clinical and/or didactic expertise through research, interprofessional collaboration, workshops, seminars, and other professional development activities.
  • While formal scholarship is not required under the Clinical Track, faculty are encouraged to contribute to knowledge in their field and maintain current practice standards.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Nursing (Nursing Education preferred) required, with a minimum of one year of teaching experience in nursing education at the college or university level. Terminal degree (PhD, EdD, DNP) preferred.
  • Current nursing licensure (or eligibility) in the State of Maine.
  • At least two years of continuous clinical nursing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in teaching across diverse areas of nursing education.
