Academic Outpatient Psychiatrist for the Mood Disorders Clinic at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

The Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Department of Psychiatry of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre are seeking to recruit an Academic Outpatient Psychiatrist with special expertise in mood disorders and CBT. The successful candidate will qualify for an academic position as a Clinician-Teacher, Clinician-Educator or Clinician in Quality Improvement and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will participate fully in the clinical and academic activities of the department including the psychiatry call system and teaching program. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026, or as mutually agreed.

The successful candidate is expected to have experience in treating mood disorders with psychopharmacology and should also possess special expertise in CBT, including newer forms of CBT such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. The successful candidate should also possess special expertise culturally adapting psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care to meet the needs of the diverse community served by Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The successful candidate will provide outpatient psychiatry services and develop community engagement. The successful candidate will also support or lead research. A track record of excellence in teaching is necessary given the frequent presence of learners. The successful candidate will have the opportunity for interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaborations within the Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences program and with community partners.

The Sunnybrook Department of Psychiatry is a collegial team of over 50 psychiatrists working with allied staff in a 47 bed Schedule 1 facility, including 10 Youth beds (ages 14-18), 28 Adult/Geriatric beds and 9 Psychiatric ICU beds.

The successful applicant must hold an MD degree, must be Royal College/Board Certified or Royal College/Board Eligible in Psychiatry and must be eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario with past experience or training in CBT including new forms of CBT.

Compensation will be based on a fee-for-service structure with additional funding through Academic and Educational Trust Funds and/or Departmentally- sanctioned administrative roles. The salary range of this position is $400,000-$450,000 per annum.
