The Cardiovascular Division at the University of Minnesota Medical School has a storied legacy of clinical innovation, medical education, and scientific discovery. Today, the Division maintains a well-established regional and national reputation as a premier source of cardiovascular clinical care, and research.
The Division is now recruiting a faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank on the academic clinical scholar track within its Imaging Section. The incoming physician will work closely with Cardiovascular Division leadership and the service line to support and expand the University’s clinical and academic missions.
Program Details & Clinical Setting:
Faculty work in a collaborative practice including 40+ faculty that combines top-tier academic and community resources to provide the very best clinical care to their patients. The cardiovascular imaging program is highly robust, supporting groundbreaking programs in structural heart disease, advanced heart failure, and transplantation. The successful candidate will practice in a state-of-the-art clinical and research environment, benefiting from strong collaborations across the university and community.

The candidate will play a pivotal role in educating the next generation of physicians by supporting our ACGME-approved cardiovascular disease fellowship, NIH T32-funded research training programs, and our advanced cardiology fellowship programs.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Applicants must have an M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree and have demonstrated high-level qualifications in education, research, and clinical care.
- Internal Medicine board certified or board eligible status.
- Cardiology board certified or board eligible status.
- Must possess or be eligible for a Minnesota medical license.
- Required areas of expertise include general clinical cardiology, with advanced training and expertise in advanced imaging patient care management. A specific focus, dedicated training, and expertise in nuclear cardiology and PET imaging are essential.
- Proven knowledge and success in research publication and mentorship.
- Applicants must have the ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of an approved visa category while in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Attainment of externally funded grant submissions and experience in large clinical research trials.
- Experience in supporting postgraduate fellowship training and clinical teaching.
- Evidence of prior leadership in clinical program development.
- Demonstrated national leadership and/or service in cardiovascular imaging societies.
- Expertise in additional imaging modalities (such as Cardiac CT or CMR) is highly desirable but not strictly required.
