"Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Human-Centred Design / Human-Computer Interaction"

Position Overview:

The HASS cluster at SUTD invites applications for a tenure-track, open-rank faculty position in Human-Centred Design / Human-Computer Interaction (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level).

We seek a creative and critical design researcher working at the interface of computing technologies and humans. Candidates should be familiar with humanities and/or social science approaches to understanding human behavior, as well as computational methodologies for building digital devices, applications, systems, or products. Backgrounds in Human-Computer Interaction or Human-Centred Design are preferred, but candidates pioneering new interdisciplinary approaches are encouraged to apply. Engagement with artificial intelligence is a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and teaching of new undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Human-Centred Design and Human-Computer Interaction, including Studio courses.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives, especially relating to Design and AI, through collaboration with colleagues in engineering, architecture, computer science, and design.
• Mentor students, including those working on capstone projects connecting research on human problems with technological innovation.
• Conduct research that speaks to both social science and engineering audiences.
• Collaborate with industry or public sector partners (advantageous).

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated record of effective teaching at the university level.
• Strong research profile, with potential to develop new directions in interdisciplinary teaching and research.
• Creative and able to collaborate across disciplines.
