Position Overview
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Sinai Health, invites applications for a physician with training in Clinical Genetics and Genomics with a focus on Prenatal Diagnosis.
The successful candidate will join the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Sinai Health System, with an academic appointment as Clinician Teacher at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Applications from candidates at higher ranks are welcome. The anticipated start date is mutually agreed upon in 2026.
Department Overview
- Sinai Health is a leader in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Prenatal Diagnosis and Medical Genetics, and Neonatology, with one of the largest programs in Canada.
- The program is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and associated with the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute.
- The Prenatal Diagnosis and Medical Genetics Program provides care for:
- Medical Disorders of Pregnancy
- Prenatal and Fetal Diagnosis & Therapy
- Placental Disorders
- Complex Obstetric Surgery
- Prevention of Prematurity
- Services a metropolitan population of 6.5 million, collaborating with pediatric subspecialties at The Hospital for Sick Children via the Ontario Fetal Centre.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultation practice focused on Medical Genetics and Prenatal/Fetal Diagnosis through the Ontario Fetal Centre, in collaboration with genetic counsellors and division staff.
- Participate in departmental educational activities, including rounds, Grand Rounds, and journal clubs.
- Dedicate ~20% of time to research/scholarly endeavors.
- Contribute to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Clinical Genetics, Maternal Fetal Medicine, and Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Promote excellence in clinical practice and professional conduct.
Qualifications
Required:
- MD degree
- Licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Certified (or eligible) in the sub-specialty of Clinical Genetics and Genomics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or comparable qualifications
- Recognized clinical and scholarly interest in prenatal diagnosis
Compensation
Estimated remuneration: $300,000–$350,000 CAD per annum, commensurate with rank, qualifications, and experience.
