Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Religion in Education

Doshisha University's Department of Education and Culture invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in the area of Religion and Character Formation in a Multicultural Society, to begin in April 2027 (the beginning of Japan's spring semester).

Responsibilities and Qualifications

• Teach the core curriculum course "Cultural Foundations of Christian Education," alongside courses such as "Service Learning Practicum" and "Seminar in Educational and Cultural Studies."
• Demonstrate fluency in both English and Japanese, with the ability to teach and work effectively in either language.
• Maintain a strong research profile and demonstrate excellence in teaching, specifically using experience-based and place-based learning pedagogies.
• Show commitment to the university's principles and the department's objectives, including a willingness to navigate Japanese university culture and assist with administrative duties.

Undergraduate Courses: "Cultural Foundations of Christian Education", "Service Learning Practicum", "First-Year Seminar", "Seminar in Educational and Cultural Studies," etc.

Graduate Courses: "Advanced Lectures in Cultural Foundations of Christian Education", "Cultural Foundations of Christian Education," etc.
