Job Description

Duke-NUS Medical School (Duke-NUS), Singapore’s only graduate-entry medical school, is a landmark collaboration between two world-ranking institutions of higher education – Duke University and the National University of Singapore (NUS). The Programme in Cancer & Stem Cell Biology (CSCB) is one of the Signature Research Programmes in Duke-NUS. The Programme is dedicated to advancing deep biological understanding of cancer and stem cell systems, spanning molecular, cellular, tissue, and organismal levels. We value research that challenges existing paradigms, uncovers new principles of disease biology, and lays the foundation for future translational and clinical advances. CSCB is seeking outstanding scientists who are driven by fundamental discoveries, interdisciplinary research, and intellectual curiosity, and who aspire to see their research ultimately inform better improved cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, while advancing as well as driving the frontiers of novel drug development. The successful applicant should be highly collaborative and demonstrates strong enthusiasm to actively engage with both basic scientists and clinicians across disciplines. They will be expected to address complex research questions and compelling healthcare concerns, work within multidisciplinary teams to advance the frontiers of science, and contribute meaningfully to the School’s and the nation’s key priority areas.

Job Requirements

  • Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree with a strong background and proven track record across the full spectrum of cancer and stem cell biology. Areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, RNA biology, therapeutics discovery, cancer immunology, functional genomics, computational and systems biology, cancer as an age-related disease, and emerging technologies. Excellence in any area of basic or discovery-driven cancer and stem cell research will be strongly considered.
  • Research independence and demonstrated leadership in managing a productive research team.
  • Exceptional track record in securing competitive research funding and publications in high impact scientific journals.
  • Prior experience in translating research towards pre-clinical or commercial applications is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to mentor and train graduate students and postdoctoral research staff.
