Job Description:

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure track, full-time position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Instructional Professor in the Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE).

This position supports the continued growth of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and the Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering. It is aligned with the launch of the new Master of Science in Engineering Management program (anticipated to start in Fall 2026), to be offered at UF's new Jacksonville campus. The faculty member hired will reside in Jacksonville and play a central role in delivering and supporting this program on-site. The Jacksonville campus is part of UF's broader vision to establish a national center of excellence of workforce-driven graduate programs designed to cultivate future leaders and stimulate economic development in the region, through strong collaboration with industry, government, and community stakeholders, contributing to the long-term prosperity of the state. This position will also engage prospective and current students through recruiting, orientation, graduation, networking, and other events, and represent the ISE department in various functions in the Jacksonville area community.

Duties and responsibilities include teaching, revising, and developing the Industrial and Systems Engineering curriculum, collecting data on student performance, and managing course contents for accreditation purposes. The instructional faculty portfolio consists of 75% teaching, 10% research, and 15% department/professional service.

Candidates are expected to be at the cutting edge of teaching pedagogy and conduct research in areas related to Engineering Education that complement and improve their teaching. Candidates are also welcome to continue or pursue additional research in Industrial and Systems Engineering related topics. Teaching responsibilities will include a range of courses, depending on departmental priorities and candidate expertise. The ideal candidate should demonstrate versatility in teaching across multiple areas of the curriculum, including Data Analytics, Operations Research, Production and Logistics, and Manufacturing Systems.

High-quality instruction is a priority at UF, as evidenced by the pedagogical training and support for faculty at the university and college level. UF faculty are encouraged to take advantage of the UF's Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) dedicated to improving teaching skills to maximize student learning. There are also opportunities for collaboration with the Department of Engineering Education, which was established in 2019 and 'specializes in the delivery of innovative and effective instructional methods in engineering undergraduate and graduate courses and assessment that is evidence based'.

UF ISE offers BS, ME, MS, and Ph.D. degrees and currently has approximately 475 undergraduate students and about 200 graduate students. The Department hosts research in various application areas including advanced manufacturing, energy systems, healthcare systems, manufacturing systems, supply chain systems, and transportation systems. ISE faculty perform methodological research in data analytics, machine learning, human systems engineering, optimization, simulation, and stochastic analysis. There are also outstanding opportunities for interdisciplinary work across the UF campus. More information about the department can be found at https://www.ise.ufl.edu/.

Expected Salary: Salary to commensurate with education and experience.

Required Qualifications: A doctorate in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a related discipline.

Preferred: Also hold a bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a related discipline.

Special Instructions to Applicants: The search committee will begin reviewing applications immediately and will continue to receive applications until the position is filled. To be considered, you must submit an application through UF Careers via https://jobs.ufl.edu/ (Job 535915). The application consists of attached PDF files of the following required documents: 1.
