The Department of Clinical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University invites applications for a Clinical Track faculty position in the Section of Small Animal Internal Medicine. Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree and board certification in Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM-SAIM or ECVIM-CA). The successful candidate will partner with five board-certified faculty internists in providing Internal Medicine services at Cornell University's Companion Animal Hospital, a comprehensive teaching and referral center with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. The position responsibilities include shared oversight and training of 6 Internal Medicine residents, rotating interns, and veterinary students. The candidate will be expected to provide excellent clinical care and client communication, effective didactic and laboratory instruction to veterinary students and house officers, and continuing education to the veterinary community. The successful candidate will develop or continue funded research directed at advancing the practice of medicine. Extensive opportunities for collaborative research exist at the College and University, including Weill Medical College and technology campuses in New York City. The candidate should exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills and a cooperative work ethic that will interface well with all sections of the hospital. Clinical duties require flexibility in that working hours may include daytime, evening, and weekend responsibilities. The intent is to have shared clinical coverage with two faculty members providing hospital oversight of Internal Medicine residents and interns. After-hours and emergency back-up support for Internal Medicine residents will be shared among Internal Medicine faculty; however, the Companion Animal Hospital is also supported by 24/7 Emergency Receiving and Critical Care Services. Salary, rank, and title will be commensurate based on academic credentials and experience with a posted range of $150,000-175,000.
