Position title: Nephrology Research Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and, if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $90,000- $130,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description
The Division of Nephrology-Hypertension (https://nephrology.ucsd.edu/) in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (http://med.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body. To expand scientific discovery, the Division seeks to recruit investigators with research expertise in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).
The successful candidates will be responsible for conducting research in the field of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Specifically, the Division of Nephrology is looking to grow its research portfolio focusing on how mitochondrial dysfunction and microvascular injury contribute to physical and functional decline in CKD, with the goal of identifying novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets. The successful candidates will also have the opportunity to take on responsibilities in leadership and will be responsible for the teaching and training of students, residents, or fellows.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidate must have an MD or equivalent, MD/PhD, PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in health-related areas.
Preferred qualifications
Candidates with at least one year of experience in designing and evaluating clinical trials and observational data with kidney disease are preferred.
