Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, Chemistry & Biochemistry (T/TE)
Position Highlights
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (CBC) in the College of Science and College of Medicine-Tucson, at the University of Arizona, in partnership with the University of Arizona Cancer Center, invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track Professor (Open Rank) starting in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research environment within CBC and will have strong opportunities to collaborate with numerous departments and Centers of Excellence across multiple Colleges.
We seek candidates with a research and education program focused on theranostics, broadly defined. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring at both undergraduate and graduate levels and to fostering a welcoming environment that supports students, trainees, staff, and colleagues from a broad range of backgrounds.
Candidates will be expected to lead a vigorous and sustainable research program, demonstrated by an excellent track record of creative research accomplishments and external funding. Preference will be given to candidates with the potential to collaborate and participate in activities on campus that meet the strategic goals of the University. Individuals who apply should be committed to working with faculty members in advancing research and practice.
The program faculty places a high value on collaboration both within the program and across disciplines. We seek individuals who bring enthusiasm, leadership capability, and a deep commitment to academic excellence within the scholar-practitioner tradition. We are particularly interested in candidates who are able to work with a variety of student populations, stakeholders, and colleagues.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish, maintain, and lead a vigorous, productive, nationally and internationally recognized research program in any area of chemistry or biochemistry related to theranostics
- Teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels and contribute to innovation in curricular development
- Mentor students in an effective and respectful manner
- Participate in outreach and contribute to departmental, college, and university service
- Develop innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement and expanding collaborations with community and business partners
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellence in research and education related to theranostics
- Leadership of research and outreach activities
- Attract and maintain external research funding
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, or a closely related field
- Postdoctoral research experience
- Relevant publications in the field
- Current external research funding
- Demonstrated experience mentoring students
Preferred Qualifications
- Translational research experience
- Leadership in large-scale research endeavors
- Experience engaging industrial partners
