Description
The Department of Chemical & Materials Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta at the University of Alberta is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Materials Processing for Sustainability. This position is part of the University of Alberta's priority to build a diverse faculty in strategic research areas; thus, candidates from traditionally underrepresented and equity-deserving groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
We welcome applications from scholars with research expertise in materials engineering, with a research focus on manufacturing processes for sustainability, such as advanced carbon materials, fibrous materials, recycled materials, and composite materials, and the processed products in composite structures and/or functional devices for energy storage/transportation. The areas of application could include: infrastructure for fossil fuels (gas/oil), greenhouse gas mitigation (e.g., CO2), dual-use applications, and other related advanced materials applications. The candidate is expected to develop a grant-funded research program in this area and to teach courses including materials science, mechanical properties, and manufacturing.
This role will be in the Department of Chemical & Materials Engineering. Applicants who value working across disciplinary boundaries, within and outside engineering, as well as with communities and industry, are strongly encouraged to apply. If you are looking to join a Faculty with a growing focus on interdisciplinary research and an emphasis on high-quality teaching, we welcome your application!
