"Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering with expertise in mineral processing (comminution, physical separation—gravity, magnetic, flotation, etc.)"

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Candidates must have strong research expertise in the field of mining and mineral processing engineering, more specifically in mineral processing (comminution; physical separation such as gravity, magnetic separation, flotation, etc.), as well as relevant teaching experience. The selected candidate will be required to teach at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, and to develop a funded and innovative research program in mining and mineral processing engineering that complements the department’s existing strengths. A list of the department’s laboratory infrastructure and equipment that can support mineral processing research can be provided upon request.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree and a PhD in mining and mineral processing engineering or in a related field. The candidate must be a member (P.Eng.) of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (or another Canadian professional engineering association), or take the necessary steps to obtain membership no later than two years after the start date. As teaching activities are conducted in French, the successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in French, or commit to acquiring this proficiency within a maximum of three years after the start date. Candidates whose background matches the position description and qualifications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

• Quality of academic training;
• Research experience and potential, including technology transfer and research management;
• Teaching experience and potential;
• Achievements in the field of mining and mineral processing engineering;
• Relevance of qualifications and experience to the position;
• Potential for integration and synergy with the existing faculty.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The academic rank will be determined based on experience, and the salary will be set in accordance with the collective agreement in effect at the time of hiring.
