ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR OF TEACHER EDUCATION RESEARCH

Job Overview

The Faculty of Educational Sciences invites applications for the position of professor specialised in research on teacher education. The field covers societal dimensions of teacher education, education systems, education policy, curricula, pedagogical practices, learning as a teacher, professional development, and ethics. The appointee will conduct internationally recognised research on teacher education across educational levels and contexts, linking it to equity, inclusion, and social justice.

Primary Duties

• High-quality research
• Teaching, student guidance, and supervision on bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels
• Curriculum design for teacher education and management of research initiatives
• Establishment of domestic and international research collaborations
• Research-based development of teacher education and collaboration with faculties, teacher training schools
• Participation in public discussion and Faculty administration

Qualification Requirements

Doctoral degree required. For tenure-track: independent scholarly work, teaching skills. For full professor: advanced qualifications, leadership, funding success. Advanced methodological expertise, fluent English (Finnish/Swedish acquisition expected). Pedagogical studies advantage.

University of Helsinki's tenure track system. Assessment includes publications, funding, collaborations, teaching merits.

What We Offer

Salary: Assistant/Associate €55,000–69,000; Full Professor €66,000–99,000 annual gross. Probationary period 6 months. Support for relocation, language learning, occupational health.
