Required Education: A doctoral degree in a related field with relevant experience is required. Completion of a health administration program at the bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral level, or experience as a Program Director of a health administration program for a minimum of three years.

Required Related Experience: 2-3 years of teaching experience as the primary instructor of undergraduate healthcare administration coursework in post-secondary education. Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience, preferably in higher education or healthcare, including program management.

Job Summary: Special Title Series (tenure-eligible) Open Rank Faculty Position and Program Director – Clinical Leadership and Management Program, Department of Health & Clinical Sciences. The Clinical Leadership & Management Program, Department of Health & Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the University of Kentucky is accepting applications for a full-time 12-month special title open rank (tenure-eligible) faculty member to serve as Program Director of the Clinical Leadership and Management Program. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Clinical Leadership & Management (CLM) Program is fully certified through the Association of University Professors of Health Administration (AUPHA) and is also Essential Employability Qualities (EEQ) certified through the QA Commons. It prepares future healthcare leaders and administrators to lead as communicators, thinkers and problem solvers, inquirers, and collaborators. The undergraduate program teaches applied skills in courses ranging from leadership to finance to human resources and culminates with a senior capstone course and a two-course practicum sequence in the health administration field. CLM graduates are prepared for entry-level careers in hospital/clinic operations, long-term care, patient experience, health nonprofits, policy, as well as graduate study. The open rank tenure-eligible faculty position will include teaching undergraduate healthcare business courses in the CLM program, such as evidence-based decision-making, healthcare finance, capstone, healthcare quality/safety, leadership, health information management, and other courses in the curriculum, depending on the candidate’s area(s) of expertise. The faculty member will also participate in curriculum development, advising/mentoring students, student admission activities, and other activities as assigned by the Department Chair. Additional duties include participating in service across the department, college, and university levels. Scholarship and research activities are expected and supported as appropriate for special title series.

Primary duties of the Program Director include providing leadership of the CLM Program, such as AUPHA and EEQ certification, assessment and program reviews, and coordination of the advisory board. Day-to-day management responsibilities include functions such as coordinating the admission processes, class scheduling, oversight of the TAs and PTIs, and other duties as assigned. The anticipated effort for this position is Instruction 40-50%, Administration 20-25%, Research/Scholarship 10-20%, Service 8-10%, and Professional Development 2-5%, and will be considered based on an annual agreement.

Preferred Education/Experience: Teaching experience in healthcare management, evidence-based decision-making, healthcare finance, capstone, leadership, healthcare quality/safety, health information management, or other healthcare business coursework. Program Director experience in an undergraduate health administration program. Demonstrated record of scholarship and/or research presentations and/or publications. Health administration practice experience in a hospital or ambulatory setting. Completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree in an AUPHA-certified/eligible or CAHME-accredited/eligible program.
