Description
The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at the University of Washington, School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time critical care cardiologist to provide inpatient coverage in the UW Medical Center Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) and UMWC Montlake and Northwest Cardiology inpatient services.
The successful applicant will be appointed to the full-time (100% FTE) faculty at the University of Washington Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. The anticipated start date will September 1, 2025 or after. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.
The CTICU provides comprehensive perioperative care to patients undergoing all aspect of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery, including heart and lung transplant, LVAD, CABG, valve replacements and repair, ECMO, and thoracic vascular procedures. The Cardiology services at UWMC-Montlake provides complex cardiac care to the entire spectrum of heart disease with quaternary care programs in electrophysiology, heart failure and transplant, advanced imaging, structural heart, interventional, and adult congenital heart disease. The UW Medical Center-Northwest campus offers comprehensive cardiovascular services including cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology labs.
Compensation
Salary
The base salary range for this position will be $16,250-$41,667 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include an administrative salary supplement (ADS), and incentive through UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in patient care, scholarship, and medical education, and to take advantage of the outstanding opportunities at the University of Washington.
Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and be board certified or board eligible in cardiovascular diseases (or foreign equivalent) and critical care medicine (or foreign equivalent), and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
