Job Description:
The Department of Biology at Worcester State University invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to begin September 1, 2026. The successful candidates will be expected to teach lecture and laboratory classes that include introductory- and intermediate-level core courses for Biology and Biotechnology majors and upper-level electives in the candidate's area of specialization. Those with expertise in microbiology/virology and the ability to contribute to our Bioinformatics Minor are particularly encouraged to apply. We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skills. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduates and will be expected to engage in scholarly activities, including developing a research program that involves undergraduate students. Additional expectations will include academic advising, as well as university- and department-level service. Opportunities to teach and/or supervise thesis research in our Biology and/or Biotechnology Master's programs are also available.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in some area of the biological sciences conferred by August 31, 2026.
- Demonstrated teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-doctoral (or equivalent) research experience.
- Microbiology and/or introductory biology teaching experience and the ability to teach other courses that support the breadth of our curriculum.
