We also offer a Master's program in Biotechnology, and the successful candidate could teach graduate-level courses. A typical workload is two lecture sections and two or three laboratory sections per semester. Faculty are expected to sponsor undergraduate research, which is a cornerstone of the student experience in our department.
The department offers small class sizes (capped at 32), strong student-faculty interactions, and a supportive, collaborative environment that encourages teaching and scholarship. Faculty members are actively engaged in mentoring students and conducting research that often leads to student co-authored publications and presentations. Worcester State has made significant recent investments in research instrumentation, and our facilities include CEM-Microwave reactor, LC-MS, ICP-OES, 60 MHz broadband benchtop NMR, and FPLC, which support a wide range of faculty and student projects. We are always looking to expand our offerings to meet student and faculty research needs with success in securing internal and external funding to make such purchases.
As part of the application process, candidates must submit a Statement of Teaching Philosophy and a Statement of Research Plans. Finalists for the position will be invited for an on-campus interview that includes a teaching demonstration.
