The Department of Technology and Aviation Science offers baccalaureate degree programs in Aviation Science and Engineering Technology. ... ECSU offers the only four year Aviation Science degree program in the State of North Carolina and provides specializations in Flight Education / Professional Pilot, Air Traffic Control, Aviation Electronics (Avionics), Aviation Management, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
Description of Work
The primary purpose of the position is to teach courses in the Aviation Science Program, especially courses within the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) concentration within the Aviation Science major. Additionally, the position will provide student academic advisement, operate and maintain the UAS laboratory, assist in UAS related research and aid in the recruitment of students for the Aviation Science Program.

Possess demonstrated relevant industrial and/or teaching experience, effective communication skills, and the ability to write grants and/or conduct and publish research. Possess a commitment to collegiality in a diverse work environment when interacting with others within the University community. Possess knowledge of current issues including, but not limited to: licensing, operational limitations related to airspace, sense and avoid research and commercial/military applications. Possess a commitment to excellence in student learning and promote students’ ability to succeed in a multicultural and global community.
Minimum Training and Experience
A Doctorate degree is required.
Management Preferences
A PhD or ABD (PhD at time of employment) in aerospace, aviation, engineering, technology or related fields preferred with the ability to teach and develop courses in areas such as: aviation fundamentals, UAS design, UAS policy, UAS mission planning, or UAS applications; or a Master’s degree in aerospace, aviation, engineering, technology, or related fields and three years of proven UAS experience to include piloting, troubleshooting, repair and registration of UAS and associated systems.
