Assistant/Associate Professor in Empirical Microeconomics (tenure track)

Masaryk University, Faculty of Economics and Administration, is looking for an Assistant/Associate Professor in the field of empirical microeconomics.

This position offers a unique opportunity to join the Department of Economics at Masaryk University as a research-oriented assistant or associate professor specializing in empirical microeconomics.

We are looking for a candidate:

  • with a PhD degree in economics (or related field) and an international research network
  • with education and experience in empirical economics with a focus on labour, behavioral, public, or political economics
  • with a strong publication record or research potential demonstrated by a strong job market paper
  • with excellent background in empirical methods
  • who is a self-driven person, able to define their own research agenda

What does the position entail:

  • full-time assistant/associate professor (depending on seniority) in the field of empirical microeconomics
  • peer-reviewed research and its presentation at international conferences
  • contribution to the preparation and implementation of national and international grant proposals
  • participation in ongoing research projects
  • reduced teaching load in English (approx. 30 lessons during the semester).
  • supervision of master theses and PhD students.

  • The position is offered as a three-year initial contract with possible extension. Continuation and eligibility for tenure are subject to a positive performance review and successful external evaluation at the end of this period.

  • the monthly salary offer is based on seniority and participation in research projects, ranging from 3,000-4,000 EUR/month (gross).

ECON MUNI research groups conduct quality research in empirical economics with focus on topics ranging from labour economics (esp. migration, and discrimination), urban economics, behavioral economics, political economy (esp. voting behavior).

Members of the empirical microeconomics research group conduct research with peers from other Czech, European, and American universities. Members of the faculty have published in journals such as Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Urban Economics, Journal of Economic Behaviour and Organization, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Scientific Reports, European Economic Review or Public Choice. Empirical research group extensively cooperates with experimental and health economics research groups.
