Job Summary

Augusta University College of Nursing invites applications for full-time, 12-month, faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. We are the state's flagship nursing program, enrolling more than 1000 students on two campuses and at numerous academic-practice partner sites. The College of Nursing, an integral component of the University System of Georgia is part of the state's only publicly-funded comprehensive academic health science center including schools of medicine, dentistry, and allied health sciences. The College of Nursing is adjacent to WellStar MCG Health, Children's Hospital of Georgia, Georgia Cancer Center, and the Veterans Administration Medical Center, providing ample opportunity for clinically relevant bench and translational research. Additionally, the college has a thriving Nurse-Managed Health Center, affording additional research opportunities focused on primary care, telehealth and behavioral health. The college offers a full degree spectrum including BSN, MSN, DNP, and PhD programs. The tenure track status (on tenure track, tenure upon appointment, or not on tenure track) will be determined based on the qualifications of the final candidate and will be confirmed in the final offer along with position expectations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary by academic rank and expertise and may include:

  • Didactic and clinical instruction
  • Course design, evaluation, and revision
  • Curriculum development and assessment
  • Student advising and mentorship
  • Active participation in college and university committees
  • Scholarly research, presentations, and publications

Required Qualifications

PhD in Nursing AND Active Georgia RN license or eligibility to obtain licensure in Georgia.

Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member.

  • Experience with research and peer-reviewed publications,
  • Commitment to conducting rigorous, high-level research with potential for NIH funding, including the production of scholarly publications,
  • Track record or strong potential for securing external research funding.

Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

  • A record of externally funded research grants and peer-reviewed publications,
  • Commitment to conducting rigorous, high-level research with potential for NIH funding, including the production of scholarly publications,
  • Collaborative scientific engagement with research faculty,
  • Experience mentoring PhD-level students.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

Active, funded research program. Academic teaching experience in didactic and/or clinical instruction. Comfort with technology-infused engaging pedagogical strategies including active learning modalities. Evidence of contribution to the profession and recognition at the local, regional, or national level.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds. Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds. Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc. while also considering internal equity and market data. Advancement through the faculty ranks at Augusta University is only through the annual Promotion and Tenure process in which faculty may apply if eligible (typically five-year increments).
