Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: 1) lead and/or participate in interdisciplinary academic and research programming focusing on environmental economics; 2) lead and/or participate in efforts to secure extramural funding to support the interdisciplinary research program; 3) publish in high quality disciplinary and multidisciplinary journals; 4) teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses; 5) mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate students; and 6) participate in service activities of the RAFS Cluster, Departments, UTIA, College, University, and profession.

Start date and salary: The expected start date is August 1, 2026. Starting salary is commensurate with experience, and granting tenure upon initial appointment will be based on qualifications. The University of Tennessee has a competitive benefits package, and 9-month tenure-track faculty are eligible for summer salary. The start-up package for the position is designed to support the launch of the cluster hire.

Qualifications: Ph.D., or ABD with an expected completion date before August 1, 2026, in applied economics, agricultural economics, forestry economics, economics, or a closely related field; excellent communication skills; ability to work in disciplinary and interdisciplinary teams. The successful candidate must meet the qualifications for being an assistant or associate professor within UT-Knoxville’s faculty handbook (https://tiny.utk.edu/rank). Candidates with demonstrated experience in productive interdisciplinary collaborations and experience working in teams are preferred.
