POSITION SUMMARY: The Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Moravian University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning Fall 2026. We seek teacher-scholars from any area of computer science who are passionate about undergraduate education and research that engages students.

The computer science program maintains a strong in-person teaching culture where faculty and students are regularly present on campus. Our residential and commuter students actively engage in our lab space, research projects, and professional development activities. We value diverse perspectives on emerging topics like AI integration in the curriculum and support faculty in developing approaches that work for their courses and pedagogical goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching responsibilities include a 3-3 load from across introductory, core, and upper-level courses.
  • With three faculty teaching broadly across the curriculum, we welcome candidates from any CS specialization.
  • Expertise in database design, cybersecurity, or areas complementing our existing strengths in software engineering, cloud computing, AI, and graphics.
  • Faculty contribute to Moravian's general education curriculum (MILE) and are expected to develop a scholarly agenda that contributes to the discipline and engages students.
  • We embrace the Boyer model of scholarship and we value peer-reviewed publications alongside grant writing, software development, and pedagogical innovation.
  • Summer research funding is available through our SOAR program and external partnerships with regional industry.
  • Faculty receive annual funds for professional development and travel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related field is required.

Moravian is a growing liberal arts institution in the Lehigh Valley (Bethlehem, PA), one hour from Philadelphia and two hours from New York City. Computer science is well-resourced and strongly supported by university leadership. We have a dedicated teaching space and a 24/7 student lab, both designed specifically for our program. The university provides every student with a MacBook and iPad, creating a consistent teaching platform, and we have a strong partnership with campus IT who helps to maintain a dedicated network of computer resources. In addition, we are an AWS Academy institution which provides faculty with curriculum and credits to use with AWS technologies. With 50 majors and strong industry partnerships in the region's medical, financial, and technology sectors, our students have robust internship and career opportunities.
