Assistant/Associate Professor of Counselor Education (Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling)

The Clinical Mental Health School Counseling (CACREP) programs invite applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor position in a Master’s Level Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) Graduate Program (CACREP). St. Cloud State University’s CACREP faculty members are seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor in Counselor Education to join our team. The current faculty welcomes individuals who are excited to work in a collaborative team-based environment. The CMHC School Counseling program provides students with training opportunities in the state-of-the-art training clinic for the College of Health and Wellness Professions (CHWP). The CMHC program faculty have completed an 8-year accreditation, and has renewed self-study for 2024 standards under review with CACREP. We have long-standing partnerships with multiple professional communities and are known for a genuine commitment to diversity and innovation. The Counseling program has a strong record with interdisciplinary initiatives to better support wellness initiatives (integrated behavioral health, 1st year nursing students, supporting student parents who participate with our on-campus child care center, and mental health training with criminal justice students, International Students, and with the YMCA for youth group programming. St. Cloud State University is located in the culturally diverse city of St. Cloud, with close proximity to Minneapolis/St. Paul that offers excellent opportunities for personal and professional growth. The CMHC program is a cohort model program that offers primarily daytime classes. The program is housed in the department of Community Psychology, Counseling Family Therapy in the School of Health and Human Services. Primary responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in CACREP accredited Counselor Education (Clinical Mental health and School Counseling) programs, with opportunities to teach at the undergraduate level and/or related graduate programs. Strong or successful applicants will have a background in teaching, supervision, and research in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling. Service to the department, School of Health and Human Services, and St. Cloud State University will also be required.

To be considered for tenure and promotion, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to: 1) teach and/or perform assignment effectively; 2) conduct scholarly achievement or research; 3) continue preparation and study in the discipline; 4) contribute to student growth and development; and 5) provide service to the university and community.

Minimum Qualifications: Qualified Candidate has experience or has evidence of demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring underrepresented students. Qualified Candidate has research interests that contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education. Qualified candidates will have an earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program. ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by August 10th, 2026. Qualified Candidates demonstrate a commitment to Counselor Education Identity. Qualified candidates will be licensed as an LPC/LPCC or license eligible in the State of Minnesota. Preferred Qualification: Evidence of commitment to engaging in service with underrepresented populations within the discipline. Experience in Team-Based Learning. Experience in one or more of the following areas: Child Adolescents, Play Therapy, Group Work, Multicultural Counseling, Prevention/Wellness, Trauma and Clinical Supervision. Research methods/design and/or program evaluation. Experience in successful program expansion.

Other Requirements: Must be able to teach in-person and online courses. Position Information: Appointment Type: Fixed Term Non-Probationary (FTNP) 9 month appointment. Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Work Shift (Hours / Days of work): Varies.
