Assistant/Associate Professor of Film and Media Studies Tenure Track
GRINNELL COLLEGE. The Film and Media Studies program invites applicants for a tenure-track Associate or Assistant Professor position in Film and Media Studies beginning Fall 2026. We seek a scholar who can contribute to the core curriculum and develop new courses in their area of expertise. Applicants must have a PhD in film and media studies or a related field awarded by the date of hire and at least 2 years of higher education teaching experience as an instructor of record at the undergraduate or graduate level. We welcome research and teaching interests in all areas of the field, but we especially encourage applicants with specializations in global cinema, Black, Latinx, Asian, Indigenous, women’s, and LGBTQIA+ film, television, or digital media.
The teaching load is five courses over two semesters at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. The courses will focus on introduction to film studies, film theory and criticism, film genres, film analysis, film/media history, and one or more of the specified areas of interest.
