Assistant/Associate Professor of Food and Nutrition
JOB SUMMARY:
The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences invites applications for a full-time Research Assistant/ Associate Professor in Food and Nutrition. The Research Assistant/ Associate Professor will develop an integrated program involving research and teaching focused on health, sustainability, and/or accessibility of foods/food security. The Research Assistant/ Associate Professor of Food and nutrition will participate as a full-time faculty member in a 12-month, non-tenure track 100% research appointment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a multidisciplinary, independent research program related to food security (i.e. food systems, food processing, food distribution, product development, food waste, food toxicology, etc.) through the generation of extramural research funding.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and stakeholders to address food system issues related to health, nutrition, environmental or economic sustainability, and/or accessibility of foods/food security.
- Generate, translate, apply, and disseminate research-based information that can be used to support and empower food entrepreneurs and assist organizations grow, process, and distribute healthy foods locally and in surrounding communities.
- May teach undergraduate courses related to food and nutrition as adjunct.
- Assist/Advise undergraduate students.
- Participate with student recruitment and retention activities.
- Execute any other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in food science, food and nutrition, nutrition or closely related field

Experience with of food distribution Experience with social aspect of food and nutritionDemonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed journalsPotential to acquire extra-mural funding to support extension program
